Recognizing Phishing Emails
Cybersecurity threats are common, and phishing emails are one of the top ways hackers try to gain access to sensitive information. Here are some quick tips to help you spot a phishing email:
- Check the Sender’s Email Address: Phishing emails often come from addresses that look unusual or don’t match the sender’s organization.
- Look for Urgent or Suspicious Language: Be cautious if an email pressures you to act quickly or threatens negative consequences.
- Avoid Clicking on Suspicious Links: Hover over links to see where they lead before clicking. If it doesn’t match the sender’s organization or looks strange, don’t click. As a general rule of thumb, do not click links or upload content without first checking the sender email.
Taking a moment to review suspicious emails can prevent security issues for you and our organization.
